Workers' Compensation

Workers’ compensation is a legal system put in place by the state governments to compensate workers for injuries they sustain “on the job.” This includes injuries incurred either at the place of business or while performing any action for the cause of an employer. If you have been hurt on the job, it is your responsibility to see that all the appropriate measures have been taken so that you may be eligible for compensation. This means going to a doctor or hospital so that your injury may be inspected and can be tied to your job. If you don’t see a doctor, it will be much more difficult to prove that you were actually hurt, or that the injury was caused by your employment. It also means that you must make sure that all paperwork has been completed and filed appropriately.
