Consumer protection law takes effect when a consumer is reasonably dissatisfied with a service or good, or with the terms by which a supplier has fulfilled its contract. Under this body of law, consumers have a right to litigate matters when they are injured by a product, or when the service they receive is not similar to that which they were promised. Consumer protection law also covers certain instances of fraud and “unfair business practices.”
