John P. Christopher Named Secretary of New York State Bar Association’s Young Lawyers Section

UNIONDALE, NY — On June 1, 2014, John P. Christopher, an Associate with Sahn Ward Coschignano & Baker, PLLC, was appointed Secretary of the Young Lawyers Section (YLS) of the New York State Bar Association (NYSBA). As Secretary, Mr. Christopher serves as one of the four Officers of the Section. In addition, Mr. Christopher serves on the Executive Committee of the YLS, holding the positions of Tenth District Co-Representative, Chair of the Nominating Committee, YLS Delegate to the NYSBA House and Liaison to the Real Property Law Section.

Mr. Christopher concentrates his practice in the areas of municipal law, zoning and land use planning, commercial and residential real estate transactions and commercial and residential landlord/tenant disputes.  Mr. Christopher has served on the YLS Executive Committee in varying capacities since 2010, when he was elected to the position of Alternate 10th District Representative.  Since that time, Mr. Christopher has coordinated and organized numerous events for young lawyers practicing in Nassau and Suffolk Counties, including an annual holiday party that benefits the U.S. Marine Corps Reserve Toys for Tots program.

He was selected to last year’s list of the Metro New York Super Lawyers’ “Rising Stars” in the area of Real Estate Law.

Mr. Christopher is admitted to practice law in the state of New York. He is a member of the American, New York State and Nassau County Bar Associations. He is a graduate of Villanova University and Touro College Jacob D. Fuchsberg Law Center.

The YLS is one of the largest sections of the NYSBA, with approximately 5,000 members located throughout New York State, the U.S. and the world. The vision of the YLS is to serve as a bridge to professional life in the NYSBA for new lawyers. The YLS strives to effectively meet the unique needs of new lawyers by providing educational, career and leadership development, community service and pro bono initiatives and networking opportunities.
